Maxthon 3 Surpasses Safari on European Economic Council Browser Ballot: Joins Opera, Google Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer on the First Page

European Users of Windows Now Able to Immediately Install the Maxthon 3 Web Browser

San Francisco, CA September 15, 2012 – Maxthon, a global software company that develops state-of-the-art web browsers, announced its inclusion on the first page of the European Economic Council Browser Ballot, replacing Safari. Users will now be able to select Maxthon on the front-page of their “European browser ballot” and immediately install Maxthon 3 as their default browser.

This ballot was created as part of Microsoft’s 2009 settlement with European antitrust authorities, which may have resulted in 28 million European consumers not being given the option to change their browser. Microsoft settled the case and in 2010 created a browser ballot screen for European users of Windows.
“In moving ahead of Safari, Maxthon’s placement on the first page of the browser ballot will make it easy for more Europeans to download and enjoy the unsurpassed speed and exclusive features Maxthon offers, which go well beyond those found on Windows’ standard, preloaded browser,” says Jeff Chen, CEO of Maxthon. “We encourage European users to choose Maxthon.”

“The addition of Maxthon alongside Opera, Firefox, Chrome and IE on the first page of the browser ballot is proof of our ability to go toe-to-toe with the largest competitors,” said Karl Mattson, GM of Maxthon International/Chief of Product Development. “Thanks to this more fair and open browser ballot, we look forward to attracting and welcoming into the Maxthon community millions of new users.”
