After Congress passed bill allowing ISP (Internet Service Providers) to sell customers’ web surfing data, people started to draw more attention on their browsing privacy. Now that we could neither change the passed bill, nor turn the tables by buying Congress’ web history and publishing them for all (it has been proved officially. :P), the only thing we can do is to keep our browsing more private, making sure that the browsing record is only available for ourselves.

Incognito mode, or private mode of Maxthon Cloud Browser could help.

What

Incognito mode allows you to browse the Internet without leaving any information about which sites and pages you’ve visited. It’s very helpful when you are using a public device, or you don’t want people that have access to your computer to see your browsing information, such as when and what did you bought for a present.

Why

Though it’s a fact that private browsing doesn’t make you anonymous on the Internet, you can always benefit from this feature in many different situations.

  • Private browsing helps reduce the risk of information leak on public computers.

Have you ever used a computer in a hotel lobby or library to access your accounts? Private browsing can help protect your cyber privacy. If you have to check your email or sign in to Facebook, it’s still a good idea to use private browsing to make sure your activities vanish when you close the window.

  • Private browsing helps you keep secrets on shared computers.

Imagine that you are planning to buy a gift for your wife on Amazon. You need to search and browse on this site for many times, but chances are that you’ll leave a digital trail everywhere from your browser’s auto-fill address bar to the list of recently viewed items on Amazon. Browsing in private mode means that your activities are forgotten as soon as the current window is closed, hiding your tracks from other people who share the same computer.

  • Private browsing presents you an unbiased result.

As you may know, many websites use cookies to target and tailor ads for you, including Google. Google uses all kinds of indicators to influence the sites you see at the top of your search results, from your personal information on Google+ to the sites that you’ve visited most often in the past. If you want to see the unbiased result, switch to incognito mode.

How

Private mode is available for Maxthon Cloud Browser on both MX4 and MX5, and there are two ways you can initiate it:

  • Open a new private window from Menu.

You can open a new private window at any time by clicking “Private” from Menu.

  • Auto-clear browsing data on every exit.

If you don’t want to leave your browsing data all the time, you can choose to clear all your browsing data on every exit, and this could be done automatically if you check the “Auto-clear” item.

Please note that above settings are only for Maxthon Cloud Browser on Windows OS, but incognito mode is also available on Mac, Andriod and iOS platform. This incognito mode is aiming to create a seamless private browsing experience for you.
