A purported scam related to elections is making the rounds on messaging apps, alerting individuals that their names have been removed from the electoral register.
The scam reportedly prompts individuals to click a link to have their names reinstated.
An image warning about this scam is currently being shared.
The Elections Department Singapore (ELD) has stated that this alert did not originate from them.
They noted that the same image was also shared during the 2023 Singapore Presidential Elections and again in 2024.
ELD recommends that voters verify their voting status by visiting the Voter Services page on ELD’s official website (www.eld.gov.sg) or using the Singpass app.
Official communications from ELD or messages from government representatives will use email addresses ending in “@eld.gov.sg” or display the “gov.sg” Sender ID (in all lowercase).
Anyone with information regarding scams should contact the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000.
