Skate Story has been one of my most awaited games since I first saw it back in 2020, so I was thrilled to receive an update during Sony’s annual PS Indie Day. The visually stunning skateboarding adventure is confirmed to be coming to PS5 and PC, with publisher Devolver Digital planning to release it later this year.
Solo developer Sam Eng describes Skate Story as “a game about a demon made of glass who needs to skate the Underworld and consume The Moon to fulfil the devil’s contract. ” To achieve this, players must navigate through nine layers of hell. Defeating bosses requires skating quickly and executing a variety of impressive tricks to inflict damage. In the latest trailer, a time limit is shown for the boss battle against the MMoon youmust defeat it before the song ends.
Players can learn and refine over 70 tricks and will level up by completing skate trials. Along the way, you’ll encounter characters like a “pillowy demon who owns a laundromat” and a “jittery subway train” that you can befriend to “experience poetry about the multilight of the Moon. “
As strange as it may sound, everything I’ve seen and heard about Skate Story resonates with me perfectly. I mainly can’t get enough of the visuals.
