Phoney Matchmaking Enterprises
In another alarming development, we uncovered a network of scammers based in Kenya who were operating under the guise of fraudulent dating agencies. Their target audience primarily consisted of individuals in Africa, whom they sought to ensnare through platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram. These impostors lured potential victims with promises of connecting them with affluent men from Western nations or facilitating relationships with “African women.”
The so-called “dating agencies” fabricated profiles of imaginary bachelors purportedly residing in or visiting Africa in 
search of love. Some even promised relocation opportunities to a Western country for those who found a match. If anyone showed interest in their elaborate schemes, these con artists would guide them to a Telegram channel or WhatsApp group where they could obtain more details—often including a fee for access to a “bachelor’s” contact information.
