SINGAPORE – In a spirited celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday, Changi Airport Group (CAG) and Jewel Changi Airport are rolling out a host of special events this July and August. Among the highlights is a much-anticipated free concert, featuring renowned local singers Stefanie Sun and Kit Chan as headliners.
The airport, often regarded as the nation’s gateway, will be transformed into a festive spectacle with interactive exhibits that tell the story of Singapore’s growth. Visitors can look forward to cultural performances, family-friendly activities, and pop-up food stalls offering local delights.
CAG’s executive vice-president of airport management, Jayson Goh, shared his excitement in a joint statement on June 25. He reflected on how Changi Airport has evolved alongside the country, becoming a place filled with memories for both Singaporeans and travellers.
“Changi Airport has grown alongside our nation, and it is a place which holds precious memories for many Singaporeans and travellers,” Mr Goh said.
With this vibrant line-up, organisers hope to bring people together to mark six decades of progress and unity. Everyone is invited to join in the SG60 festivities and create new memories at Changi Airport.
The SG60 Homecoming Concert promises to be an unforgettable night. Set against the stunning backdrop of Jewel Changi Airport, this special event will take place on August 1. Music lovers can look forward to a star-studded line-up, including acclaimed singer-songwriter Sezairi, pop sensation Regina Song, and the beloved Mandopop folk-duo The Freshman. Energetic performances by pop band SuperSonic will add even more excitement to the evening.
Although admission is free, concertgoers will need tickets to attend the event. These coveted passes will be distributed through a ballot system, ensuring everyone has a fair chance to join in the celebration.
Those eager to secure their spot should keep an eye on Changi Airport’s official social media channels. More information about ticketing and the event will be released there by early July, according to a joint statement from the organisers.
With its dazzling location and impressive musical acts, the SG60 Homecoming Concert is set to be a highlight in Singapore’s calendar this year.
Jewel Changi Airport is set to dazzle visitors this August with a special light and music showcase in celebration of SG60. Each evening, the iconic Rain Vortex will come alive with vibrant projections of beloved Singaporean symbols, painting the mist with scenes of heritage and pride.
A highlight of the show is a stirring rendition of “Home,” the much-loved National Day song made famous by Kit Chan. The familiar melody will echo through Jewel, accompanied by synchronised lights that dance across the cascading water.
Showtimes are scheduled at 8 pm and 9 pm every night, with an extra show at 10 pm from Fridays to Sundays. Whether you’re catching the first performance or staying late for the encore, each show promises a uniquely enchanting experience.
As you wander through the Shiseido Forest Valley, pause to admire over 1,200 orchids specially arranged for the occasion. Their blooms add a splash of colour and elegance, transforming the lush landscape into a living tribute to Singapore’s 60th year.
This month-long celebration is more than just a spectacle — it’s a heartfelt homage to Singapore’s journey, brought to life through light, music, and the beauty of nature.
Singapore’s beloved national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, is taking centre stage at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3. Starting July 21, travellers and visitors will be greeted by a breathtaking 7-metre-tall sculpture of this vibrant orchid, set amid a lush floral display covering 270 square metres. The garden doesn’t just celebrate the Vanda Miss Joaquim — it also showcases unique orchids like Dendrobium Changi Airport and Renanthera Singaporeans, creating a vivid tapestry of local blooms.
Over at Terminal 2, another spectacular sight awaits. A majestic 6-metre-tall Merlion made entirely from 60 different types of plants stands proudly as a symbol of Singapore. Adding a touch of local flavour, the display is sprinkled with whimsical recreations of familiar snacks such as curry puffs.
The festivities continue beyond the terminals with a special charity night walk on July 27. Participants will set off from Terminal 2, journeying along a glowing SG60-themed stretch of the Changi Airport Connector. The 2km route ends at Terminal 4, promising a magical evening under the stars.
To remember their adventure, every walker will receive an exclusive Buddy or Mr Merlion mini plush keychain upon completing the event. All proceeds support selected Community Chest-funded programmes, making every step count for a good cause.
Once upon a time, Singapore’s cherished national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, began to weave a new story at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3. From July 21 onwards, all who pass through will find themselves greeted by a magnificent sight: a towering sculpture of the radiant orchid, soaring seven metres into the air and nestled within a sprawling garden that stretches across 270 square metres. This botanical wonderland doesn’t just honour the Vanda Miss Joaquim; it also brings together rare and remarkable orchids, such as the Dendrobium Changi Airport and Renanthera Singaporeans, painting a vivid portrait of Singapore’s floral heritage in living colour.
But the magic doesn’t end there. Over in Terminal 2, visitors will stumble upon another marvel: a grand Merlion, standing six metres tall and crafted entirely from sixty varieties of plants. This verdant guardian of the terminal embodies Singapore’s spirit, while playful touches — such as delightful replicas of beloved local treats, like curry puffs — add an extra dash of nostalgia and whimsy to the scene.
As the celebrations unfold, a special evening adventure beckons on July 27. On this night, participants will gather at Terminal 2 for a charity night walk that winds along a glowing, SG60-inspired path on the Changi Airport Connector. The two-kilometre journey leads explorers beneath the stars, all the way to Terminal 4, promising an enchanting trek through light and community.
And when the journey ends, each walker will be rewarded with a charming keepsake — a Buddy or Mr Merlion mini plush keychain — to remember their experience. Best of all, every step taken helps those in need, as proceeds from the event go towards programmes supported by the Community Chest. In this way, each footfall echoes with meaning, turning an evening stroll into a story of giving back.
