Maxthon 6 browser kernel has been updated and it will be tested with Maxthon 6 Beta in the near future.

What is the browser kernel?

The core part of the browser should be the “browser kernel”, also known as the “Rendering Engine”, whose main role is to interpret the page grammar and render the page. Therefore, the “rendering engine” determines how browsers display the content and format information of web pages. Different browser kernels interpret the grammar of web pages differently, resulting in different rendering effects, which causes compatibility problems.

MX6 is Chromium-based browser

In the previous version, Maxthon uses a unique, innovative dual-core design that supports both the Trident and the WebKit rendering engines. In order to adapt the new technology and focus more on the new features and the improvement of user experience, MX6 chose the Chromium open-source kernel as the foundation.

The Chromium engine is one of the most popular kernels in the world, which is developed and updated by Google team. Chromium is an open-source kernel that aims to build a safer, faster, and more stable way for all Internet users to experience the web. Besides Chrome browser, many other browsers are also based on Chromium code, most notably Microsoft Edge and Opera. After the advent of Chromium, it has driven the development of the browser industry.  Some single core and dual core browsers based on Chromium are springing up, such as Sogou, 360, QQ browser, etc., all of which have the same kernel.
